High-speed rail in Los Angeles changes the recreational travel practices of Angelenos. Rapid and efficient rail connections enable hikers, cyclists, and all outdoors enthusiasts to access the valley’s natural and recreation areas with ease and without the hassle and cost of having to own a personal automobile. This is Post-Car Los Angeles. We are writing its guidebook.
The trips detailed and described in POST-CAR ADVENTURING LOS ANGELES provide inspiration and ideas for car-free trips to areas commonly thought to be inaccessible without an automobile. As a means of travel, post-car adventuring synthesizes rail, bus, subway, bicycle, and foot travel to make ‘active transportation’ an everyday experience for more people.
POST-CAR ADVENTURING LA enables persons already using public transportation to extend its application beyond its normal bounds and encourages those who find themselves frustratingly reliant on their cars to imagine other possibilities.
Post-Car Press has already published a successful guidebook, POST-CAR ADVENTURING THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA (see attached). With the addition of a guidebook for LA and a high-speed rail connection between northern and southern California, the possibilities for personal exploration and freedom for post-car, recreational travelers throughout the state expands rapidly.
